Wow such a cool macro shot. What did you use to take this?
The hardware is a 2013 24 mp Nikon D5200, for this shot linked with a kit 55-300 zoom lens. My iPad tells me this photo was shot at 220 mm. This particular dragon was in fairly deep shade, patrolling back and forth along a 20-foot stretch of swamp. I used manual focus and shot 30-40 handheld frames, firing every time he paused to look at me, as in the above posted shot, or slowed down going by. Most shots were at 5-8 feet. A couple turned out to be in focus. Most didn't. Using the flash would have helped, but it wasn't one of my better memory days and I couldn't remember the sequence to get it to fire.

Here's a different view. The focus is slightly off.

Still a Genuine Montana Fossil
Still exceptional shots. Flying Dragonflies are challenging to say the least. Nicely done!
