Did you catch any fish afterwards?

After watching them for a while, since they are so cool, I usually just pack up and find another spot.
The side sloughs off of the big river, heck everything is all closed here. Oddly, and I know they love trout but the otters I see pretty much dine on crawdads and sculpins. Outside of smolt season there are not many salmonids in this river stretch.

This otter was not really happy with my presence. He came up from diving for crawdads and sculpins to find me too close and slapped the water like the way a beaver often does. Have never seen this from an Otter before. Next time surfacing he swam right over and gave me a long, slow stare down.

After a bit of more fishing he jumped a log and went on to sunning some, but still kept an eye on me !

I’d say you’ve been “mean mugged”.

Just chillin out enjoying the day and the safety of my backyard after mowing some of my grass. I need to do some mowing myself.
