While trolling you use 40 lb ug just to impart more action to the hootchie/fly. So really stressing that they are not leader shy. Unless I was casting to staging coho in an estuary, then all bets are off.

When casting to staging coho, I feel it’s more the size of the fly that matters. So dropping down to 15 lb ug would be a good idea. Of corse that’s just my thoughts
