The GPS is my daily driver on all my rods but do like to change things up at times! Yeah I hate stripping in line, especially in the winter!
I tried the GPS on the 14' and was the only line that worked decently on it, I plan on trying one on the 13'. The 12' rod is so damn fun with that skandi(recommend) that I don't think I'll ever change LOL.

I have been hoarding them for a few years and have a large stash, they will out live me!

My Greenhart from the 1860s is a Sharpes and has same ferrules. I was told that back in the day they would wet leather and let it dry. But know back then the rods stayed there on site.
Thought you were going to say you fish a Clan Greenheart or Clan Bamboo like the Prince of Wales fishes.

And that's one hefty reel to balance the rod. At least 4.5". Maybe more.

I got a waara blank from Angler's roost several years back but last year had it redone by Bill Zbitnoff of Snokist Custom Rods in the Redmond area. The rod kept breaking at the ferrules, so Bill converted it to a spliced rod and redid the cork for me. I'm pretty happy with it, it was much more of a noodle initially, but it being shorter after the conversion it is a little stiffer now and recovers faster than it did originally. I also have a Redwing spey that is more of a 6 wt spey, it too is spliced and is an enjoyable rod to fish with.

Odds are that reel doesn't balance it anyway.

Sadly I don't own one yet but have cast quite a few I really liked. The latest was a shamburg he let me cast when we were on the Skagit. It was just a sweet rod. The other was by James Reid. Equally as sweet. Eventually I hope to own both.

Good to see you around again Brian!

I've got an 11' 5 wt from Ryan White. Ryan guides on the Dean River and works out of the same shop as James Reid in the off season I believe. At Least they used to make the blanks together.

Rod is not only beautiful, but one of the better fishing rods I've ever fished of any material. Surprisingly it's a skagit machine with a 360gr scout and any length of t-11. Only put that line on there so I could fish it in the winter. The summer can't come soon enough to get a muddler back on a floating line like was originally intended!

I've gotten to fish other bamboo spey from James Ried and Mark shamburg and found them all great. Shamburg has a small 10 or 10.5" 7 wt that is super cool. When I'm ready (financially!) to get a serious stick, James Ried's bigger rods have serious power!
