Lots of discussion about AI in another thread about where to live. So as not to derail it, this one is being started.

AI - lots of points of view out there. This one provides information from a number of sources and I found it to be easy to read and understand.

It is only a simplified overview, balanced overall, and a reasonable place to start IMHO...

Fly fisherman will be the first to be replaced. Carp won't stand a chance with the coming generative AI fly patterns.
BS. AI will suffer from paralysis by analysis and end up choosing a scud pattern during a salmon fly hatch. Or, even more likely, will recommend discarding the fly fishing tackle entirely and select blasting caps for their efficiency. I doubt AI will "get it" that some days I just wanna' fish the way I wanna' fish irrespective of the most effective technique.

AI will likely choose a scud pattern with three antennae and seven legs. Every experienced flyfisher knows that will never work.

AI will tell everyone they are getting highly confidential info about where and when to fish, and while 3,000 fly fishers show up at the same riffle, the robot friend of the AI will actually be at the right place, muttering with each cast 'F them obsolete skinbags'

“Eventually, all things merge into one, and the internet runs through it. The online world was cut by the world's great flood of fluffy money, it comes out of wires from the basement of big data centers. Some of the data are timeless memes. On the memes are the words, and some of the words are theirs. But most of the words and pictures are AI generated and not that funny, at least not yet.
I am haunted by AI.”

At the U.S.-Saudi Investment Forum in Washington, D.C., Elon Musk declared that AI and humanoid robots, including Tesla's Optimus, will eradicate poverty by creating a post-scarcity world where currency loses relevance. Musk predicted that in 10 to 20 years, personal robots will make labor optional, shifting focus to hobbies.

Which is of course why he just got done asking for, and receiving a Trillion dollar pay package.
🤣

The AI DATABASE PROGRAM MACHINERY is the way to go these days. You need PAY groups of consultants to set up and MANAGE the AI DATABASE in a dedicated room!!! If you aren't hiring out for said purposes then you aint gonna COMPETE in the AI SCENE!!!!! I compete heavily in the AI SCENE due to hiring out Big to a group i found on Craigslist that is HIGHLY EXPERIENCED in the modern AI SCENE!!!

I can’t recall ever seeing so many language errors, as in that Nexford article; spelling, grammar, capitalization, etc. I had to stop reading it. If it was written with AI, they need a better program. Pretty shocking, coming from an “educational” organization.

Not sure what you find so objectionable about "making hey" - you must just be an anti ai ite.

Cheers

I’m not sure but I have asked Ai same question
Three times over a 7-8 week period. And I have gotten three different answers. It’s growing.

Much of what humans are required to do today is adapt to technological changes to ensure the efficiency and security of...the technology.
;)

AI may be able to assist with my job, but AI won't be capable of doing my job.
Now if AI can help me with my snowboarding, fly fishing, pickleball, golf, drums/guitar playing etc.... I'm all for it.
