'53 Buick Tying Instructions?

I'm admittedly not a computer sleuth but my searches only bring up the '52 Buick.
I assume the '53 is probably similar with some newer material substitutions.
A point in any direction appreciated.

Judging by a pic it looks like Guinea tail, dubbed body, wire rib, Fritz (or sub) thorax and bead head; there could be a wing case, too, but not positive.

Scott

Dean - I'm guessing you're tying up for your trip to "G" Lake. I wouldn't hesitate to include the 52 in your arsenal although I suppose the 52 Buick was tied to imitate a dragonfly nymph (or in smaller sizes a mayfly or even a shrimp). On a trip past Little Fort, BC, we stopped at the fly shop and, at the recommendation of the shop, purchased a half dozen 52's. They were pretty effective.

Thanks Scott...I blew that picture up and it looks like you described other than the thorax might be uv straggle or something similar.

My Pa had a '53 Buick Roadmaster when I was a kid--- LOTS of Chrome!!!!
you could fit half a dozen kids in the back seat!!
My folks had one too. I can attest that they were hell for stout, We were playing touch football in the street and I was looking over my shoulder to catch a pass when I ran headlong into the grille of it...ain't been right since. :ROFLMAO:

looks like a caddis green dubbed body ribbed with chartreuse wire and a black micro estaz thorax (or similar) and a bead head

That looks a lot like Semperfly's "UV Body Fuzz" for the thorax.
I’d get creative for a sub…
UV Dub - black and some hollow deer hair - black; in a dubbing loop; clipped and scrunched.

Or the same dubbing process, but use a stretchy, crinkly rubber material and clip.

The '53 Buick is a high-performance variation of the classic '52 Buick fly pattern, primarily used by stillwater anglers in British Columbia to imitate caddis pupae and "naked" larvae. While the original '52 Buick (created by Gary Carlton) was designed as a general-purpose nymph for damselfly imitations, the '53 variant often incorporates modern, flashier materials to increase its effectiveness.

Common Tying Recipe for the '53 Buick
Because it is an evolution of the '52 Buick, many tiers use the same foundation with slight modifications to the thorax or ribbing for extra "bugginess".

HookSize 8–14 Nymph hook (e.g., Mustad 3399 or similar)
Bead (Optional)Gold or black bead head to provide weight and attraction
Thread6/0 or 8/0 Uni-thread in Black or Olive
TailOlive Guinea Fowl fibers or Lemon Mallard Flank
RibGold Oval Tinsel or colored wire (like chartreuse for extra flash)
BodyShaggy dubbing (Seal fur or synthetic substitutes) in Olive or Brown
ThoraxOften uses "Fritz" or a shaggier dubbing loop for a bulkier profile
Throat/BeardOlive Guinea Fowl fibers
HeadPeacock Herl (if no bead is used)
