    NFR Eclipse viewing

Thinking about heading down towards Eugene to see the eclipse next Saturday, weather permitting. Anyone know good parks or places to do this? Last eclipse, it was all the news, and not much of a peep about this one. And yes, getting eclipse glasses.

    Westport tuna 9/21/22

After getting cancelled last month, our rescheduled date came around and we headed up to Westport. It was me, along with Andy and Patrick from Bend and one of our PNWFF members. All first timers for tuna, except me with three whole trips under my belt. Over the prior month, we engaged in all of...

Rod Building Using a rod dryer

I’ve always used the cardboard box method of rod wrapping and turning after coating wraps. However, I’m now the proud owner of a motorized rod dryer like the one below, and I have some basic (stupid ) questions: How do you use it to dry the whole rod? Do you just add each section to the rod as...

    NFR NCAL ideas this weekend

I’m in the Bay Area this week and next, and had plans to meet my brother here over the weekend. However, he can’t make it, so I’m at loose ends. Im trying to decide whether to stay in the city, but also I’m thinking of heading up to Tahoe or Yosemite. It looks like runoff is pretty high right...

    Rod building supplies

I didn’t see a rod building sub, so I’ll throw this out here. It’s been a couple of years since I’ve built a rod and I don’t remember things so good. Where are we going for grips and guides with pre-filed feet? This is for graphite rods if it matters.

    Some Canyon Therapy

I was talking to some friends, and realized I hadn’t been over to the dry side yet this year. And I needed it. I spent the week watching the forecasts, getting discouraged with the weather guessers calling for rain, snow, wind, and hail. By Saturday afternoon I said hell with it, what’s the...

    Loose seam tape

I have a Simms guide jacket, maybe ten years old, and the seam tape is starting to come loose on the back of the neck. Do I just glue it back down with aqua seal, or something else? Or wait until spring and see if I can send it in?

NFR NFR Photo monopod trekking poles

Does anyone have recommendations for a trekking pole that can double as a camera or binocular monopod? Here's the catch: it's for my 5-9 wife, and it needs to hold the camera at eye level. All of the ones I've seen only come up to about 4 or 5 feet max. Thanks!

    Zipper fix tips?

I broke the zipper on my felt tabis, and was wondering if anyone has an easy fix for this. Since there’s a tooth missing, I figured I could just kinda force it back down but no joy. Thanks

    Corrosion at trailer harness plug

Rewired the trailer because the lights were being flaky. Plugged it in to test before heat shrinking the connectors and still flaky. Throw a meter on the car end, and not getting good signal. Turns out there was some corrosion where the harness connects to the car. And because it’s me, I managed...

Hit the President's Day Sales Today

They were running a BOGO on low-holing, and every customer gets a free piss on your leg while telling you it's raining with every order. I had the day off today, so thought I would go on down to one of the Portland rivers and see if I could get some casting practice in. Maybe even swing up a...

    Who's Fishing This Weekend?

Can't decide whether to hike the coast for steelhead, do a float with a thousand of my closest friends, or drive over the hill to the Deschutes.
