    WA Coast question

You might check out Snuggler's Cove (four small cabins) through Airbnb. They aren't fancy but they're right on the Harbor and a stepping off point for Damon's Point, with binoculars you can see the charter boats heading out, pretty sure I saw a few of the tuna boats this pas September. We had...

NFR Places to eat after (or before) fishing

If you find yourself fishing the Quincy Lakes area and if you like Mexican food (who doesn't?), try Tacos Jalisco on C street SW. Their steak tacos are $2.50 each paired with beans and rice and homemade (fresh daily) salsa? Delicious. If you find yourself fishing DF or Lenore then Soap Lake...

Inches away from no cougar season

I had to look up the definition of gadfly. There's a poster above that I think fits this definition quite well but then he's offered some rather profound advice on this thread. This thread reminds me that as group of fly fishers, we seem to debate every single topic from rigging a fly to...

New bobber gives you “20%-100% more takes”!

I used my Seeger-Cator™ Monday, the "pay better attention and set faster" cost me the only takedown of the day because I wasn't paying attention. ;-) A cookie sounds good but strawberry rhubarb pie sounds better.

    Dog Bite On Waders

Zak - it sounds to me like you have made a commitment to train your dog and to exercise him regularly. Good on you. I wonder how many dogs are regularly walked and owners keep up with training? Last Sunday my wife and I stopped by the pumping station at the south end of Lake Lenore; I...

    Lake Lenore fish rescue

Yeah - it would have been nice to get more notice and Mike knows. If you'd come over it could have been a two-for.

    YT in the PNW

I've recently made two purchases from Spawn and with the last purchase I asked for a last minure swap (which they graciously accommdated) - (drifted there) - I'm trying to tie some flies for my September tuna outing. I ain't even close to mediocre but at least I have some materials, that in the...

    Lake Lenore fish rescue

Sure - I'll try. The spawning trap's flow is fed from Alkali Lake across SR17. Given dry (dare I say drought like) conditions, Alkali's elevation drops in early spring which reduces flow (or dries up) the creek the lahontans swim up in their spawning ritual (there isn't any natural spawning...

    Lake Lenore fish rescue

Looking for help today - At last year's "rescue", the youngest person there was the biologist: he's just a kid in his 50's, the youngest volunteer may well have been then 72 year old Buzzy. Anyone want to help (yes, short notice)? Last year - Last year: Netting lahontans at the spawning...

    Central WA's husky rainbows 2/22/2024

It looks like someone has been beating down the bullrushes. Ah, those rocks. Such a fantastic lake, the scenery, but man, that launch SUCKS. Well done on the pretty rainbow, good luck today.

What's your favorite dry or emerger Callibaetis pattern?

Got me to chuckle with the "antish/waspy things". We had the same thing happen on the home lake in BC. There were fish coming up everywhere but we couldn't get but the occasional tug. Keith used his noggin, throat pumped a fish and found flying ants. Game on.

What line to use fishing from a boat?

type 9 = 9 inches per second, type 3 = 3 inches per second (that would be inches sinking per second) and so forth.

Is it the fourth Saturday of April already?

I wish our law enforcement folks would (or could?) sieze their cars, trucks, boats, equipment when they find this kind of violation. It might teach the young ones a lesson if they were forced to walk home (I know, I know, it won't happen).
