Are the majority of streams/rivers there still private? In that aspect we are lucky!

Some of my older scarf joints are failing….I used Elmer’s Glue All Max. I wonder if using zip ties to hold the joint together if I’m tightening them too much? I know….too many fish! What do you use Tom Bowden??

Yesterday I C&R’d 16 bluegills, 1 trout, 2 crappie and 6 bass for a slam on a different local lake on poppers with super shorty. Today I C&R’d 68 bluegills, 2 trout and kept to big crappie for dinner tomorrow, all on shorty with foam poppers!

Today’s slam on a local lake….16 bluegills, 6 bass, 2 crappie and 1 trout! The trout on the indicator and the rest on a popper.

Spark plugs are the very first thing I’d replace. Hopefully that’s the culprit, cheap fix.

Well it sure was a FUN day today!! Tom and I fished for bluegill with dries and small foam poppers…..way nicer weather than Tuesday! Nothing but sun and a light breeze…..hardly anybody else fishing. Bear Trail lodge on the Naknek river with Nanci and Heath are first class…..we stayed/fished with them for years! Can’t afford it now…..

Talk about hoarders…..Tom and I went and got some more bamboo culms for reelseats??! Tom found them locally, I used the owner’s chainsaw to cut down some 20’+ dead and dry stalks…..most around 3”- 4” in diameter. Not sure which species but should be fine for more reelseats that I don’t really...

That’s pretty short for a heavier line rod…..any specific reason for one? It could be done….but I don’t know how much fun it would be to cast…..

I devirginized shortly today with 30 bluegills and 5 trout. All but one trout on an emerger. Just a blast watching the bluegills smacking the dry! Some bonus trout mixed in with them….bent the rod better!

RAIN?? Holy crap did it rain on me today! I was on a local lake watching some shitty dark clouds coming from the NW towards me…..it cut loose! Lots of thunder but thankfully didn’t see any lightning. At least I was prepared….had my raincoat with me. But a good day catching!

Thanks for getting this thread back on the topic! As I said before, practice casting on a river that’s open…..use a fly instead of yarn and you might even get some bonus fish! (And the yelling might be “nice fish!”)
