Pat (or anyone else), what do you use to cut the foam discs? I'm getting ready to fill my carp box, and want to tie a bunch of these. In another thread you mentioned some kind of punch.
Thanks
It's trespassing, and I do it as well. The fun part is hiking up the tracks in the predawn dark. Plenty of notice when a train is coming, but still have my head on a swivel. The only place I've heard of people getting in trouble is at South Junction on the Deschutes.
I went on a major clean out and reorganization over the holidays. Threw out a lot of flies that were too poorly tied to donate. Got rid of all the musky flies I tied in my first two years chasing. I put a lot of PTs and prince nymphs in the storage box - I'll probably never fish a prince nymph...
Seconding Gordy out of Hammond. He will do fly trips, but it’s not his thing like Nick. He can put you on fish, though.
You didn’t ask, but I’d advise against trying to mix fly with gear fishing.
Back to the idea of wearing a pfd. The belt inflatables are convenient, but they need to be deployed and then put over your head. Easy on a sup in calm waters, much harder getting swept down river fully dressed.
Either belt or horse collar , you end up with all the flotation in front of you...
