More like a land owner who had quite an impressive weed grow going on. Apparently he had motion cameras set all over, and we were lost trying to find the river. This was in the days before tools like OnX Maps.Smile and show em your teeth. It's the best defense in the heat of the action. You clearly encountered a hunter needing more field training. It's too bad as they give us all a bad name. The THA (Tweaker Hunters Of America) extends apology for your unfortunate encounter. We do police our own so if you'd like to fill out a brief questionnaire I'll look into it and see if we can't get you some closure and education for the inexperienced hunter. Been there myself on the wrong end of the barrel and it's not fun.

We told him we didn't see anything (he caught up to us quite a ways from there). But I'm sure he discovered our boot prints when he went to make sure things were still there.Been there, done that, but never seen the growers, just backed out ever so quietly!

Yeah, I have a family member who carries 100% of the time and is extremely paranoid. I've tried to have talks with him about it, but of course he won't listen to me. I fear for him and anyone on the other end of it if the wrong situation happens, because he's one who thinks everyone is out to get him. Kind of a scary thought.this is sobering and goes directly to training - noticing what's really there versus projecting what you fear. don't carry a gun if you're so focused on what you fear that you see it everywhere you look.
Am guessing you likely have a "speciality (freaks)" trophy room or Tornow wing I am guessing? The odd specimens encountered from scAberdeen north through Humptulips and up to Forks? The inbred/crossbreeding watershed hoppers ? Well... hoppers in two ways literally. Bipedal is sort of a stretch with that extra ankle and foot, sort of a drag and skip. Tripedal.Sometimes I just like to sip a scotch in my trophy room and look at the beauty I've collected. There's a street family unit stripping a Subaru over there. Here is a tweaker couple engaged in domestic squabble. And this setting here, one of my favourites is two males spray painting some stolen bikes. That one there is a drug addled buck coming at you with a knife. What a hunt that was. They all tell a story and bring me back to the field. It's hard to pick a favourite. Besides my hunting activities help preserve the species from overpopulation and disease while my financial contributions to the local community are appreciated and needed. It's all very sporting, ethical, and for the good of the species.
To be fair, he was just as scared or maybe more then we were. The gun was literally shaking in his hands and when he finally dropped it down and took the round out of the chamber he had to sit down to calm down. “I’ve lived here for 30 years and never seen someone on my property”this is sobering and goes directly to training - noticing what's really there versus projecting what you fear. don't carry a gun if you're so focused on what you fear that you see it everywhere you look.
Damn I forgot all about jumping in the back of his truck. I just remember the adventure up until that point. To be fair, he was just as scared or maybe more then we were. Well most people aren’t as sick for Chromers as us Sir. He did give us a ride to the road which was fair. I’m glad he didn’t panic that day but it sure was sketchy.

Just be human once. Just one time! You have to be trying so hard to come across this soul sucking all of the time because I do not believe it could possibly come natural to anyone. I bet when you log off you are super pleasant and probably a funny guy and full of light conversations, genuinely I can see that and I would share a beer with THAT guy no doubt about it. The round is on me. But the beacon of truth, science, and virtue avatar you’ve constructed for yourself online leaves a lot to be desired my friend. I read your back handed sign offs “have a wonderful afternoon” in a nasally dry voice and I can’t control it. Every end of the sentence comes with an audible mehhhh. The quotations around “tweaker” just encapsulate the petty and condescending tone you project so perfectly.
Someone called me a pussy and I laughed. I can’t imagine what people started to write and deleted. That would be so fun to know! The internet is not that serious. You can joke about anything at anytime it’s so fun and wonderful. Just like my afternoon.
Be you today. Let your light shine through.
I don't know the details of the NRA instructor, but the other guy said it was that his shirt was not fully tucked and put enough drag on the trigger going into the holster to fire it.Like they accidentally pulled the trigger when holstering or?

The only striker fired gun I have is a Springfield XD, I religiously push it into the holster with my thumb at the back of the slide so the grip safety is not engaged. I like the extra layer of safety.
I think the folks that obsess about the time lost in a gunfight are living in a world that doesn't really exist. If you have a job that puts you in unfamiliar territory out on the peninsula I believe that your safety protocol is probably right on the money. Striker fired pistols are very safe with a round in the chamber if in a proper holster that fully covers the trigger. Extreme care is needed putting them in that holster, because that is when accidents can happen.Call me inexperienced or untrained but I don't have a round chambered unless I'm actively defending myself or stalking a trophy bull tweaker. I don't carry often so maybe it's a familiarity comfort thing but I figure I can get a round in the pipe pretty quick and the sound likely is an attitude changer which works all the same for me. I don't have a gun fetish but see their utility and necessity. Being in brush and bullshit with a round in the pipe just don't feel right. For that reason a revolver is my brush gun of choice and I can treat it like garbage and it still works. With a 9mm or similar I go by the Israeli philosophy and am familiar enough with my weapon to pretty instantly get it hot. I'm not judging anyone for a different protocol and would like to hear from anyone who has more knowledge than myself if I'm doing things incorrectly.

I have other pistols that are Double action/single action with a safety that I feel very safe carrying with a round chambered. I can draw them and fire them as fast as with a striker fired, you can do that job as the gun is brought up, it's just a matter of practice.
Revolvers are probably the safest thing to carry, as there is no need to carry it chambered.
