What are you listening to?

This article put me onto checking out some 'bands' or really producers listed in there.

I've been listening to Horse Meat Disco because the name really cracked me up and they are pretty good, if you like their take on disco classics and their own work.

For @Roper (cause i know you like her like i do.)
This is Joni Mitchell, with Brandi Carlisle and Wynonna in background. It was recorded July 24, 2022. It’s kind of hard not to get teary eyed. I wish the camera work was better though.

@Jojo, thanks so much for this. I loved the re-take Ms.Mitchel did of this several years ago, thought it couldn't be done any better, I was wrong. To be honest, I didn't know she was still able to sing. The transition from an 18 year old when she fist wrote and sang this in a bit of a care-free manner to this this performance with all its heartbreak and the strings it now tugs is truly remarkable.

cheers

@Canuck from Kansas I think you mean this one, right? @Roper , you may have put this up yourself before.

I had this on VHS because i just had to record it when i saw this tribute. She does that shoulder shimmy and you can almost see her do it while sitting down. It wasn’t that long ago we thought she was going to die. She’s been my favorite female artist for so many years. Her lyrics are amazing and speak for many.

It’s been so hot (98 degrees on my patio) so I’ve been inside with my a/c working on my embroidery on jeans project. I’m adding song lyrics to many pairs i own. (It helps my arthritis in my hands.) Here is what i started yesterday. It’s still a work in progress and i have to add more embellishment.

@Jojo, her movements are as unique as her words, vocals and chord progressions, wouldn’t you agree? Love the skirt…

I do agree! She’s incredibly unique in every way. Her lyrics are the best out there. Dylan ( who i also love and whose lyrics appear on my jeans) gets lots of accolades for his but I think hers are more relatable about life than his are.

A rather surprising (to me anyway) Joni Mitchell quote referenced on her Wikipedia bio:
"Mitchell has said that the parents of baby-boomers were unhappy, and "out of it came this liberated, spoiled, selfish generation into the costume ball of free love, free sex, free music, free, free, free, free we're so free. And Woodstock was the culmination of it." But "I was not a part of that," she explained in an interview. "I was not a part of the anti-war movement, either. I played in Fort Bragg. I went the Bob Hope route [i.e., touring to entertain military personnel] because I had uncles who died in the war, and I thought it was a shame to blame the boys who were drafted."

@Jojo I've sung the chorus and 1st verse of Big Yellow Taxi to myself virtually every time as I am returning to the car when hiking-backpacking-climbing-backcountry fishing... since 1970.
