Apparently I could have saved some money by getting the Fish Washington license instead of the combo license plus crab.@Zak $173 for the license I usually get? (Well, $163 for me because I turn in my catch cards) That’s a massive jump over last year that I wasn’t anticipating.
I might skip the annual pas this year and just get some 3 day passes if the itch gets too bad.
Should work the same. At the start of the process you mark if you're a resident or non-resident.I have two friends that fish here, but are non-resident. Does anyone know how that works for them?
I assume that means: Perfect In The App?PITA
It appears to me that once we are into the 2026-2027 license year that I will be able to use links in whichever app I have open to reference the regs in Fish WA and enter catch data or display a license in MyWDFW apps. Thanks for this. I bought a digital license and was trying to make it work with my FishWA app but it was very clunky. I just installed the MyWDFW app and it works fine now (and the MyWDFW app has a handy link to FishWA).
I haven’t seen mine appear in the fish app yet. Assuming it will when April starts? It appears to me that once we are into the 2026-2027 license year that I will be able to use links in whichever app I have open to reference the regs in Fish WA and enter catch data or display a license in MyWDFW apps.
I can use a link in the Fish WA app to ID fish from the West Coast Fish ID app. But I wish that app had more detailed search criteria, included trout subspecies, lingcod... it has potential but not enough priority.
And imagine if they linked stocking and perhaps even projected returns data to water bodies in the Fish WA app.
My system is a piece of paper with my current Discover Pass, WDFW Pass, and Northwest Forest Pass stapled to it, kept in a plastic sheet protector and tucked into my road atlas. When I park at an access, I pull it out and place the whole kit and caboddle on my dash. I put it back in the atlas when I start driving. I don't like a reflection while I'm driving, either.Just did mine in digital. Almost gave up until I figured out they wanted me to password protect my phone. Not very fucking happy about that. And I am really not looking forward to that white paper reflection from the access pass sitting on my dash.
It should be there now. Download the myWDFW app and check there.I haven’t seen mine appear in the fish app yet. Assuming it will when April starts?
The current 2025-2026 Catch Recording is paper. Electronic Catch Recording becomes active for 2026 2027 on April 1. Today I get a MyWDFW login fingerprint screen but I suspect the app isn't going to open to bring up the catch record entry screen (or to display a license) until April Fools Day; that's an interesting coincidence.Nope.
I did have to download the myWDFW app last night. It shows there but not the fish app still. Not very happy they expect me to stay logged in when out in the field. Should set it up to go into wallet on phone or say a pdf works.

You are talking to a guy in the same age group as a member who can't remember to pull up his zipper...but I'll try.I pull it out and place the whole kit and caboddle on my dash. I put it back in the atlas when I start driving.
Thank you for making me laugh so early in the day.You are talking to a guy in the same age group as a member who can't remember to pull up his zipper...but I'll try.
Unless your mind is on vacation while your mouth is workin' overtime during a WDFW LEO encounter I believe that if someone has a phone or app issue during a license check, it will be fine because they can easily lookup a License on their laptop or a quick radio call. I am curious though about the inability to show an Electronic Catch Record of fish in my possession. But I would have to be a good angler for that to be a real concern. On the 1% chance you get checked, just show them the myWDFW app. As long you have it in one them you should be good.
If you click on the Buy/Renew License in the Fish Washington app it will probably make you login. Once logged in it will show it. This is why I went ahead and did the thumbprint login thing. Both apps log out after some time. To login I just use my thumb print to jump back in. Also why I screen shot the darn thing. I gotta think enforcement will be reasonable with this first year. They know it's a PITA as well.
I tried the dishwasher trick. Went 1 for 2.Now I must clean my keyboard.
