NFR Superb Owl 2026: Seahawks vs Patriots (official thread)

Non-fishing related
This is a quality burn, though I'd wager it applies to most of the country outside the Northeast and Midwest regions, not just the West Coast.

On the other hand, if the NFL really cared about that kind of thing, the Dallas Cowboys wouldn't be in the NFC East.
Josh don't encourage him.

For me, and I did see this coming, the SB was a bit anticlimactic since the Rams were so, so much more exciting to play. The NFCCG was the real Superb Owl (and the Dec 18 game against them that I got to attend may be one of the greatest regular season games ever). Still love that it all happened, just hope the AFC starts putting together some better teams. Let's not forget how poorly the Chefs did against the Iggles last year.

East coast bias is nothing more than the west coast populations biased interperatation. People everywhere have insular perspectives. That is universal. The West Coast sports fan seems predisposed to feeling victimized.
Many West coast sports fand also think Pittsburgh is on the east coast which may add to the issue.
I'll have you know that Pittsburgh IS ON THE EAST COAST!

i think Charles should generally feel optimistic about the Pats over the next few years. Solid defense, pieces to build around on the offense, good coaching. They are in a seemingly perennial not-great division (save for the Bills who have Josh Allen but still have some holes). Drake Maye didn’t have a great game but he generally looks very legit and is still on a rookie deal. The Pats ran into a wood chipper yesterday (Hawks D!) but despite that they played hard. I cheer for Bills on the AFC side (underdog!) so pains me to say it but the Pats look like they will be fine.

If the new Bills coaching staff can fix the defensive issues that have plagued the Bills, the Patriots will not be winning the AFC East. The Bills wouldn’t have beat the Hawks, imo… but Josh Allen wasn’t getting shut out for three quarters.

but Josh Allen wasn’t getting shut out for three quarters.
Did you see the last couple games he played, especially in the divisional round? He not only got shut down, he actively made it worse by his own doing. May have been one of if no the worst QB performance in this year's playoffs. He did do some stuff, but the choke was pretty egregious.

I like Josh Allen, but he still hasn't learned the most important job of the position...ball security! That fumble just before halftime in the AFC championship game was a monumental lapse in judgement. Like, take all the interceptions and fumbles by QBs in the HISTORY of the NFL and that is in the top 3 of worst all time.
You fumble like that, especially as the team leader, you don't deserve a Super Bowl.

People STILL talk about Darnold as if he's a choke artist after he just became the first ever to QB an offense with zero turnovers in a postseason. Contrast to Allen and Lamar - their postseason success hasn't exactly been great... or even good. That's after a few chances at it.

I don't think any AFC team woulda beaten the Hawks this year...

The Seahawks did not turn the ball over in there three playoff games. They got to the superbowl because they are good at football. They were also able to capitalize on the Rams muffing a punt in the NFC title game.

The 3 stats most correlated to winning in the NFL are: turnover differential, rushing attempts and Quarterback rating.

Their AFC potassium was inferior.

Day 2 of being Super Bowl Champs...

😁

If, if, if... come on folks, the season is over, Seahawks won (congrats), time to move on... GO CHIEFs 2026!!!!

Allen outside of the Denver game has been exceptional in the playoffs. I’m stoked for Darnold and the Hawks (had season tickets when they played in the Kingdome and AFC West) but it’s easier when you have a #1 defense and you don’t have to be the hero every week. Christ, I think I’ve been in Buffalo too long 😉

He played poorly in the Denver game but a can’t let the “couple games” thing go uncontested. The week before the Denver game he went 28/35 (80%), 273 yards, 1 TD plus 2 rushing touchdowns and led a game winning drive with 1:04 left on the clock. I think any team would take that.

Also, even with his turnovers against Denver he had a QBR of 90. That’s his worst playoff game and it went to OT.
