They won the division at 7-9, beat the Saints, then lost to the Bears.
 
The first of two big divisional games between my LA RAMS and the local c-hawks approaches. #1 and #2 in the all important NFL power rankings, for the moment at least. Any predictions or wagers on the outcome?

In previous seasons the offense hasn’t been the problem, even in the playoffs. The defense of the Bills consistently shits the bed. McDermott should be fired because he cannot even get his side of the ball working. The new Seattle coach has a defensive background and that seems to be working out pretty damn well without a MVP QB. But at least the Bills keep signing defensive linemen at the end of their careers to come in and flop.

Power rankings are just ad-generating clickbait based on someone's editorial opinion ranking the teams based on their current status of most dominant to least dominant. The team you'd least want to face this week all the way down to the one you'd most easily beat. Otherwise meaningless.

I try to find the DVOA rankings each week like the chart I posted yesterday. I find that to be a bit more interesting since it's a weighted metric based on all phases of the game.

It is an interesting stat. It is an attempt to be as onjective as possible. Objectivity is boring compared to the subjective nature of Power Rankings.

The most successful companies are led by executives who use their talent to develop sound strategies, and then rely on the next levels of senior management to develop and manage the tactical plans that execute the strategies.
Mike Vrabel's team is doing well because his team has fully bought into his leadership and over arching strategies, and he hired premium defensive and offensive coaches well suited to develop and game plan the talent.
Too many coaches are unwilling to cede authority and power and surround themselves with journeymen vs empowering innovators.
Bill Walsh was the apex when it came to hiring the best knowing they would move on to head coach other teams, and allowed them to challenge him while they were on the Niner staff. Just have to look at the Walsh coaching tree to understand just how successful his coaching methodologies were.

I mean, the 2025 MVP "race" (which, let's be fair, is just a QB award no matter how historically good Jonathan Taylor or JSN are this year), is pretty much Stafford with Darnold trailing a bit behind. He may not have previous MVP awards, but he's playing like it this year.

I'm amazed at what Stafford has done this year, approaching 39 years of age...during preseason, he was clearly having a back issue...having gone through a herniated disc myself, I thought it would have a serious impact on his play this year...clearly it has not. The MVP is his to lose...

He has the Seahwaks twice, the lions and the Bucs. If the win their division, He may well win it. They only have a couple of good wins so far this year. Darnold and Maye are both also in the running along with Jonathan Taylor who is getting 6 yds/att.
Goff, Stafford, Darnold and Maye are having very similar seasons.
We will see who wins their division.

He’s 37. He’s like 8-9 months older than Russell Wilson but has been in the league three more years.

And plays 100x better than Wilson.

I'm surprised Wilson is even sticking around to finish the season. With how many hundreds of millions he's already made, it doesn't seem like it's worth it to ride the bench for a team and fan base that hates you.
