I am a sucker for musicals and have been fortunate to play guitar, tenor banjo, and mandolin in the pit for several good local amateur productions. Here are a couple of my all-time favorite dance numbers from the film versions
The sawhorse finale at 5:15 of the Barn Dance sequence in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers is amazing and Russ Tamblyn kills it!
"Donald O'Connor, though only 27 years old at the time but a chain-smoker, was bedridden for several days after filming this Make 'em Laugh sequence" from Singing in the Rain.
And while the dancing doesn’t have the amazing physicality of the previous two, Fiddler... is my #1 (@ 1:20), TRADITION!
