NFR Sea Otters and Green Crabs

Non-fishing related
dbaken Your post makes my heart sing. This is such a complex issue, and simply stating that "kelp forests are doing just fine up and down the Pacific coast" And my favorite " Otters are a vital part of the ecosystem" simply shows that the poster is totally unaware of the complexities involved with the discussion. Kelp ( both bull and macro), urchins.. purple, red and green along with the "Otter bucks" all play a part in a very complex puzzle. The above posts seem to be a desperate attempt by a poster to assure himself that he is well informed on this issues. I can assure him that he is not.

I sadly say that that poster has been effectively mislead, deceived and lied to by powerful entities that make huge profits by misleading the people that obediently believe the hogwash that they sell.

You still cant back it up 😂

Talk is cheap, opinions are like assholes, put your money were your mouth is!

Ummm, that wasn't the intention of my post. It's likely the absence of otters are contributing to the loss of kelp forest in Oregon.

That and the Starfish die off from that wasting disease a while back...

Only person that is that is illinformed is you, and obviously I have a better understanding than you.

Want to know why? It's really easy to read, I learned before I went to pre school, mayby you should learn and stop looking at picture books 😂

The Sea Star wasting disease was the most prolific marine epidemic known to mankind...From Alaska to Mexico it wiped out the starfish. Some people, me included, believe that it spread to Red Sea Urchins, that resulted in a 90% reduction in harvest in vast areas. That epidemic also likely created the population explosion of Purple Urchins ( due to a lack of a natural predator) that have devastated the kelp beds, abalone and Red urchins in areas such as Northern California. In other areas, fisheries such as the Sea Cucumber fishery in the Puget Sound may very well have benefited from the star fish die off. I try and discuss these issues intelligently, using my first hand knowledge.... Unkind vibes such as the post above, do not insult me...they can, however, be used as an accurate measure of intellect.

And were still waiting for something other than an opinion from you!

Back it up!

But you cant!

Publish your paper/study subject to peer review...Please!

An independent review of your facts, data, observations, and experiences means way more than your posts here..

Otherwise, pissing in the wind will only get you wet....

Where I live on the East Coast of Vancouver Island ( Georgia straight/Salish sea ) the vast kelp beds that used to be here when I was a kid are now 100% gone. Send your spare Otters here please.
