RIP Jerry Miller
I stopped in at my luthier-guitar repairman's shop today get some work done on one of my archtops. He told me that Jerry passed away 3 weeks ago at the age of 81. Jerry was a local musician and one of my All-Time Favorite guitarists who played with popular Northwest dance-rock bands including the Frantics, and hung out with Jimi Hendrix and Larry Coryell to watch touring bands visiting the Seattle area. Later he became known and respected internationally as the lead guitarist for the Moby Grape in San Francisco, releasing their 1st album in 1967. He eventually returned to Tacoma where he continued to perform locally. Here's a Wikipedia article about him.

Seen PMG several times, I just find his stuff and fascinating and intoxicating. There is so much going on in this amazing piece of music - the drums/percussion are incredible, vocals, beautiful. The man in the striped shirt is laid back for the first half, but then rips it in the second:

I was into the jazz/fusion thing years ago, Return To Forever, Mahavishnu Orchestra etc...always love Metheny's guitar work, never knew he collaborated with vocalists...
