What's your fishing rig?

IMG_0816.jpegI’ve had so many rigs over the years it’s crazy, started with a 87 Ranger XLT my granddad gave me, the I bought a 98 XLT with the 4.0l, then a 04 Forester XTi (wish I’d never have sold that rig), then two F150s, and now my personal favorite ever….2012 Tundra lifted with all sorts of fun attatched.

Just put my 2004 Suburban with 110K through a front to back service (long list) that included new shocks and Eibach anti-sway bars, bushings and end links..what a difference in handling.
This redesigned 2024 Kia Santa Fe has me interested..

I have two now, which is silly, but the older one isn't worth enough to want to sell it, and it's nice to just keep the truck camper on it instead of messing with the camper on the newer truck.

2011 F150, it has taken me on a ton of fishing trips in the upper Midwest, Ontario, and the PNW... this pic happens to be from a turkey hunt, not fishing, but you get the idea:

2013 Silverado - not much newer, but a lot less miles, and bought it from my 70+ year old, career mechanical maintenance father who kept it in the garage all winter while they were in AZ, so it's been well taken care of (had to stop and take a pic of it and the boat at Lost Trail in MT this summer, since it's one of my favorite ski areas!)

2011 Silverado on a Montana trip in 2013. Bought in early 2013 with 11,000 miles on it. Most likely the last truck I will need.

Just after turning 99,999. Keep to the maintenance schedule and runs like the day I got. Not the missing door trim neatly removed by the car wash.

This is about to become my new fishing rig for when the Subaru can't pack all my fishing and camping gear. I need to get a canopy ordered for it pretty soon.

My trucks Lil’ brother
Be prepared for sticker shock on that canopy, prices up 50% since I got mine in 2017. Along with the canopy I love my BedRug, padded and carpeted floor and sidewalls. Keeps the warmth in, very tough.

Have you thought about a soft top collapsible canopy? I saw one the other day and talked to the owner; I might replace my tonneau cover with one.

No. I prefer hard canopies with a carrying rack, but I also consider canopies removable when I need to haul firewood, bark, or whatever.
Removable hard canopy - You are a lot tougher than I am. ;-)

Nice! If the drivability and gear hunting bothers you like it did me there's a local guy that can put a tune on it that helps. Totally safe and no change in MPG, it just helps with shifting. Don't remember what I paid but it wasn't much, less than $200. Highly recommend!
